x The New Graces (Melanie, Robyn, Kate)
We have a new single today! Farmer’s Daughter, please share and call your favourite radio station to have it added to the playlist! Enjoy
Four times Toyota Golden Guitar Nominated trio The New Graces release Farmer's Daughter from the album Seasons to radio and streaming services today. Written by Robyn Martin who says, "This song is my story. It’s an untangling process of working out who I am and what it means to grow up as a woman in a fourth generation white farming family in Australia".Like most farming families, my parents shared farming and parenting work. In the opening lines of this song I wanted to highlight my Mum’s physical strength and practical savvy, and also how much I value the nurturing side of my Dad.
The farm was just east of Ceduna SA, the area that Coloured Stone (one of Australia’s first mainstream charting Indigenous Bands) hailed from.
When the family farm was sold I was strongly aware of my connection to that place, with the pile of limestone remains of my great grandparents house in the back paddock. It got me thinking about what that connection to place must feel like when it dates back tens of thousands of years. With me in line for a financial inheritance and the local Indigenous community living mostly in share houses in town, I was left with some questions about how we move this forward.
The fifth single to be lifted from the critically acclaimed album Seasons, Bringing an evocative, warm, and harmonic sound to the Australian country music landscape
